the knowing…

This morning my journal helped me figure something big out ….

I was struggling to figure out how I felt about something - which isn’t usually a struggle for me at all. I’m a pretty quick processor, and I know myself well.

I can fairly easily identify when something is triggering me (from the past), or conversely when something is bothering me about the present and needs to be addressed.

I can identify the feeling I’m experiencing and figure out what message it’s bringing me, and what I want to do with that message.

And I can stay in tune with what my body is experiencing and interpret what is happening… and shift it if need be.

(All this came through a lot of practice, and it’s also what I teach others to do, too, and man it makes life easier!! It’s like being gifted a guide book for something you just got thrown into with no training! )

Anyway, there’s this particular thing I’ve been struggling to figure out. So I took pen to paper, and began to write.

It’s always interesting, what comes out.. and today a whole bunch of stuff came out and then this nugget of gold:

“Don’t listen to the voice that comes *after* the knowing, *listen to the knowing*”

The knowing tells us what’s right for us … you know: take the program, quit the program, yes you like this person, no you don’t, it’s time to leave, it’s time to stay, it’s time to change, it’s not time to change, open the business, dont open the business, quit the job, stay at the job, and so on and so forth.

That’s the knowing.

The voice that comes *after* the knowing is more like: you’re not smart enough, it’s going to be too much work, it’s scary, you might make the wrong decision, blah blah blah and it’s usually full of fear, anxiety, buts, shoulds, and what ifs.

It’s a combination of those things and our socialization, our soundings, the expectation of others, and more.

But it’s not the KNOWING. The KNOWING, it’s just *ours* …

So, incase it helps you as much as it did me, remember …

Listen to the KNOWING, not the voice that comes after the knowing … our intuition doesn’t steer us wrong (but the rest of the stuff I mentioned - fear, anxiety, expectations of others etc) often does.

(if you want to get to know your knowing, you can check out my journalling prompts here, or my course wildly well or ink + insight here - all three are excellent places to get to know yourself better!)
